In each of our haiti missions the incidence of referrals for both (glaucoma and cataract) has been closer to 15% and has been very consistent. vosh/pa team just returned from milot, working with crudem and peter kelly. hanna storm was very devastating to the area with heavy rain, wind, damage. flooding, mud. missed 2 days of clinic and had to leave the country a day early. cap haitien, where we usually work, was under a foot of water much of the week, and a town not far from milot was one where people were on their roofs for several days with many deaths from the flooding. we were able to see 900 patients in the 4 days we were there with 130 referrals for cataract and glaucoma surgery. peter did slts for several days and 2 SEE surgeons worked with our team as well as 2 haitien ophthalmologists. the john cheatam foundation has donated a yag for use at justinean hospital

Dear All, Thanks so much for a wonderful and productive weekend. We performed 1,088 eye examinations and dispensed 1,060 pairs of eyeglasses over the 3 day weekend. We had a terrific and skilled team. Attached are the overall results. We would never have been able to accomplish so much without the team work of: the Lion's of Virginia and their screenings, the local health dept and the retinal photo's, Lombart and their generous "loaner" equipment , RAM and their volunteers who helped set up the clinic (Don and Hubert) and all the volunteer doctors, opticians and assistants. It was wonderful to see old friends and make new ones. Thanks to all. Vicki Dr.Victoria Molnar Weiss Optometrist President VOSH Virginia
