Dear Colleagues,

This year our 31st Annual Meeting will be held in a hybrid format on Sunday October 15th, 2023.

This year’s hybrid Annual Meeting will focus on “Transforming access through technology and innovation”.  The number of people living with visual impairment and blindness is staggering and optometrists like other eye care professionals are limited in number, not evenly distributed, and with diverse scopes of practice.  Technology and innovation offer opportunities for optometrists to provide better patient care maximizing the existing capacities of the profession and opening opportunities for the adaptation of innovative approaches.

The program includes sessions with tips on established procedures to maximize its efficiency, shares innovations with the potential of being adapted in different settings, discusses the role of telehealth in a primary care setting, information systems to ensure data from our humanitarian work is easily and adequately collected, and much more.  There will be plenty of food for thought.

The presentation of the two VOSH/International Awards and the inauguration of our new President for the period 2023-2025, Dr Hector Santiago, will be part of the program.  A special session designed with the US SVOSH chapters will bring fresh ideas to the table.

On October 14th there will be a networking fundraising dinner with a raffle to raise funds to continue supporting the school of optometry in Haiti through its SVOSH chapter.  A separate registration is required.

We look forward to meeting you in New Orleans.

Sincerely,

Michael Ciszek, OD, FVI

President VOSH/International
