Two optometrists are needed to join a team of 12 medical professionals in providing care for 12 days while trekking 26 days through the remote Himalaya in Nepal. The Tsum Valley is home to 3500 Tibetan Buddhists who have received little eye care due to remoteness of their location. The two earthquakes in spring of 2015 profoundly impacted the people of the Tsum who are described by Westerners as gracious and grateful. Volunteers will experience spectacular scenery and immersion in Tibetan Buddhist culture. More information is available on the mission web site: tsumvalleymedicalmission.com — select the “Volunteer” tab. All arrangements for the trip will be made by Rachel Frazin, a Minnesota-based family nurse practitioner who has volunteer experience in Nepal. The  mission is sponsored by Empower Nepal Foundation, a US nonprofit 501 (C) (3) and the Tsum Welfare Committee, a nonprofit in Kathmandu.
